Project:
Apex – Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Dispenser
Client & Year:
Natural Fuels Corporation, Denver, Colorado, 1994 – 2000
Task:
Firmware design & development, hardware specification and maintenance
protocol design, from concept to production, functionality extensions and
maintenance
Environment:
Motorola 68332, Intermetrics C compiler & assembler, emulator HMI
Features:
State-of-the-art, US national type approved CNG dispenser
Kernel:
Custom made, multitasking, real-time, cooperative
Supported Functionality:
Fill process support with two types of fill algorithms. Density, pressures
and temperatures sampling and processing. Dispensed gas calculations.
Protocol support for point-of-sales (Gilbarco and Marcum protocols), magnetic
card readers and maintenance/ report communication channels. Infrared
remote device support. Alphanumeric (with the multiple language capability)
and seven-segment LCD support for the user interface. Support for dispenser
setup and densitometer, pressure and temperature transducer calibration through
the maintenance channel. Support for external Micro-Motion gas flow
meters. Support for various dispenser types: single-hose, dual-hose,
single-inlet, dual-inlet, high flow single-hose with two meters in parallel,
Micro-Motion single-hose and Micro-Motion dual hose.

Project:
Nitric Oxide Analyzer (NOA)
Client & Year:
Sievers Instruments, Boulder, Colorado, 1996
Task:
Firmware design & development, from concept to prototype
Environment:
Motorola 68331, SDS C compiler & assembler, Emulator HMI
Features:
NOA is the world's most sensitive and accurate nitric oxide and dioxide measuring
instrument.
Kernel:
Custom made, multitasking, real-time, cooperative
Supported Functionality:
Analysis process support. Temperature and pressures scanning and processing
and temperature control. Photo-multiplier tube signal proportional
to the NO/NO2 concentration scanning, processing and data logging.
